The 2023 Grands-Échézeaux Grand Cru was cropped at 43.6 hl/ha (around the same as in 2022) on September 7 and 8, then on September 17. As expected, there is another dimension on the nose that is immediately appreciated: more depth, the fruit leaning into the red side of the spectrum, touches of incense and musk in the background, more floral compared to the Échézeaux. Again, wonderful definition. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fewer corners than the Echézeaux, more fluidity. Boasting fine depth and wondrous mineralité throughout, this is a captivating Grands-Échézeaux. Hints of dried blood/ferrous elements furnish the finish as they did out of barrel, completing a quite profound wine that challenges the notional supremacy of the Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Outstanding. 17,868 bottles produced.
Anticipated maturity: 2029-2050
