The 2018 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru shows some reduction on the nose, plenty of dark berry fruit mixed with pressed roses and hints of Indian ink. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, allspice, white pepper and light blood orange notes. This fans out wonderfully towards the finish. Returning after 10 minutes, it seems to loose some of its initial freshness and delineation and becomes a little hard-edged. Needs time. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
