Dark red-ruby Musky, very ripe, soil-driven scents of black raspberry, black cherry and menthol Silky and fine-grained yet backward today owing to its medicinal reserve This wine is hiding its sweetness in the early going but it displays lovely phenolic ripeness, not to mention good energy I’d give it at least three or four years in the cellar
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2029
"Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Liger-Belair’s 2014 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Grandes Vignes Rouge was more modern in style than the 2014 Clos de l’Arlot tasted immediately before this, marked more by the barrel with candied red fruit and orange blossom scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced, soft and rounded, almost Vosne-Romanee-like in style with a plush and caressing, slightly meaty finish. Probably a wine that can be enjoyed in the flush of youth and with bottle age. Tasted September 2017."
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030
A pretty if restrained nose displays maturing aromas of cool red currant, earth and soft spice nuances. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the supple, round and fleshy medium-bodied flavors that possess a relatively refined mouth feel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the subtly complex, delicious and attractively persistent if lightly austere finish. For my taste this is nearing its full maturity but it’s not quite there yet. With that said, this could certainly be enjoyed now but even so, a few more years of cellaring should prove to be beneficial.
