Tasting Notes
Vinous 93
The 2001 Clos Haut-Peyraguey has a relatively high-toned, showy bouquet, much more floral than its peers, featuring yellow flowers, dandelion, mirabelle and saffron scents. The palate is cohesive with a fine bead of acidity, delivering nectarine, apricot and hints of elderflower. Spice, ginger and lemongrass notes emerge toward the finish, which lingers wonderfully. After a slow start, this turns into quite a compelling Sauternes. [Neal Martin, 29/09/2021]

Robert Parker 93
The Clos Haut-Peyraguey has a very pure and honeyed bouquet with marmalade, quince and honeysuckle aromas that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is viscous on the entry with very good weight in the mouth. This is one of the more unctuous Sauternes 2001 with a long spicy finish. I can see this aging beautifully over the next 20-odd years. [Neal Martin, 01/10/2014]
