Fives & Zeros Shine in Allemand, Mouton, Pavie & More

Hello Collectors,

Based on the success of my colleague Leah’s wildly popular 2016 vintage offer on Monday, I thought I’d borrow a page from her playbook and put together a coincidental grouping of vintages that should work for you. I’m no numerologist, but have you noticed that, over the last 40 years, vintages ending in 5 or 0 often share qualities with 2016? They tend to be strong across a variety of countries and regions worldwide, so we’ve assembled an offer spanning 1985 through 2015. I left out 2020, which has its own strengths, as it’s perhaps a bit young for what you might be looking for, but the pattern certainly continues!

The number don’t lie: 100-pointer 2005 Troplong Mondot at a great price; nearly perfect right bank cornerstones L’Elise Clinet and Pavie; Burgundy’s stellar 2005 vintage from approachable Chevillon, Fourrier‘s celebrated Clos St. Jacques and Groffer‘s Amoreuses to highly rated Lamarche’s Grande Rue and Jacques Prieur‘s powerful Chambertin. We have two rare showstoppers: 1985 Krug in magnum and 1990 Rayas Blanc, and 2015 is represented strongly not just with Bordeaux, but with Allemand Cornas, Bond, Scarecrow, and Schrader Old Sparky. Throw in that singular, spectacular 99-point Hundred Acre Fortification and you’ve got some lucky numbers! As a reminder, all of these are in the US already so no tariffs!
