2023 Domaine Denis Bachelet, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes 1x750ml

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is a little perplexing on the nose, earthier than expected, and perhaps missing the cohesion that I found on the Côte de Nuits. The palate is more promising, with firm tannins that impart backbone, dark berry fruit laced with graphite, fine depth and more harmony toward the finish. There is just a hint of espresso in the background here. Drink over the next three to ten years. [Neal Martin, 01/01/2025]
