2022 Jacques-Frederic Mugnier, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 1x750ml

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has quite a strict nose for this vineyard, but I like the purity here, and there is certainly much more vigor than the 2021. Black cherries mixed with blueberry and violet. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of black pepper. It’s a fine-boned and somehow “athletic” Bonnes-Mares with gentle grip, a little austere towards the finish, just missing a bit of sustain and grandeur. [Neal Martin, 01/11/2024]
