The 2019 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir is another gorgeous wine in this range from Peter Michael. This south/southeast facing block yields a Chardonnay of notable richness and viscosity. Even so, the Mon Plaisir retains terrific energy. Apricot, honeysuckle, mint, butter and pastry flesh out over time. The 2019 is a wine of breadth and power. Superb.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2034
Mon Plaisir is sourced from 20+-year-old Montrachet and Old Wente clone selection vines on a full sun exposure slope. A tank sample due to be bottled within the next couple of days, the 2019 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir comes barreling out of the glass with bold scents of ripe grapefruit, apricots and green guava plus hints of marzipan, baking bread and nutmeg. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of wonderfully pure tropical and stone fruit flavors, supported by a silken texture and seamless line of freshness, finishing with a lingering spicy kick. 956 cases were made.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2037
