2018 Domaine Michel Mallard, Corton Grand Cru, Le Rognet et Corton 1x750ml

The 2018 Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru has a much more open-knit, expressive bouquet than its peers with vivacious red berry fruit, forest floor and pressed rose petal scents. Quite understated at first, this seems to grow in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very pliant tannins. Fleshy, but with backbone behind it, gentle grip, a caressing and quite persistent finish. Excellent – one of this year’s more sensual Cortons. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
