2018 Domaine Comtes Lafon, Montrachet 1x750ml

Like several of the wines in the range, there is a phenolic hint present on the broad-ranging and mildly exotic nose of white peach, passion fruit, kiwi, rose petal, lavender, anise and spice-scented aromas, all of which are trimmed in subtle oak influence. There is superb volume and power to the big-bodied flavors that possess a highly seductive texture along with a copious amount of dry extract that imparts an almost chewy mouthfeel while buffering the firm, complex, compact and hugely long finale. This is a seriously impressive Montrachet that probably won’t ultimately rival the best the domaine has ever produced but it will at least be in the conversation. [Allen Meadows, 10/06/2020]
