Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 98

The 2016 St. Eden has a deep garnet-purple color and gives up vivacious notes of crushed blackberries, warm plums and cassis plus hints of dried leaves, forest floor, tapenade and truffles with a touch of unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied, the palate features taut, muscular black and blue fruits, framed by firm, ripe tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long with loads of savory sparks. [Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 19/09/2019]

Anticipated maturity: 2020-2054

Vinous 94+

The 2016 St. Eden is a wine of pure and total sensuality. Soft tannins and plush fruit give the St. Eden much of its allure. In this tasting, the St. Eden comes across as delicate and restrained, with less of the overtness and volume it often shows as a young wine. Dark red and purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal, mocha and new leather fill out effortlessly. This is an especially hushed showing from the St. Eden. [Antonio Galloni, 21/12/2018]
