The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a lifted bouquet that needs to shake off some reduction but eventually offers black cherry, burnt toast, black olive and subtle pencil box aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, featuring ripe black and red fruit laced with white pepper and sage. Harmonious and well balanced, sporting admirable weight toward the finish and a long peppery aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2040
The 2015 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has an expressive nose with red cherry, cranberry and strawberry fruit, a feminine bouquet with neatly integrated new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, quite tensile in the mouth with a slightly pinched, compact finish that should broaden out once it has completed its elevage. This is a respectable grand cru, even if I would not hold it up as one of Jadot’s top-tier 2015s.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2035
