"The 2015 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is a monument in the making, opening in the glass with a deep and complex bouquet of dark berries, cassis, wild rose, dark chocolate, grilled venison and currant leaf. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, powerful and multidimensional, with profound depth at the core and incredible energy and textural finesse despite all its immense concentration and substance, unfurling over the tongue like a roll of velvet. The finish is searingly intense. Like the Lavaux Saint-Jacques and the Evocelles, this Mazis-Chambertin stands out for its bright vertical line, and Loic Dugat-Py observes that for them this grand cru is a cooler terroir.
