Medium red. Plum and redcurrant on the nose. Supple on the palate, showing good breadth and saline complexity to the enticing red fruit flavors. Very easy to drink thanks to fine-grained tannins. The sweetness of the fruit here belies the October harvest.
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2023
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, the oldest vines planted back in 1929, has a crisp, slightly leafy bouquet with a light marine influence developing in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannins, crisp acidity and plenty of dark berry fruit toward the piquant finish. Don’t overlook this offering from Jean-Marie Fourrier, because it ranks easily alongside his Premier Crus.
Anticipated maturity: 2017-2030
