One of the highlights in this range of 2012s, the Chablis Les Clos is totally seamless from start to finish. The flavors are bright, floral and citrus-inflected, much like the Preuses, but with a little more textural depth to round out the edges. Sweet spice and floral overtones add further nuance on the silky, polished finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2016
The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos isprincipally situated on the upper parts of the slope with more limestone soil and where half the vines were originally planted by William Fevre’s father during the 1940s. Allowing the glass five minutes to really open, the Les Clos has a very well-defined, mineral-driven bouquet with light granitic scents coming through with continued aeration. It shares the salinity of the Les Preuses, but with perhaps a little more richness and natural harmony toward the finish that just glides across the mouth. Superb. Drink 2017-2035.
