Tasting Notes

Vinous 92

Surprisingly, the 2007 Latour has a bolder and more outgoing bouquet than other vintages from this era, adorned with plush blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry fruit, slightly more floral than its peers. There’s a fine definition here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very well balanced, although not the most complex in the line-up. It tapers in a little toward the finish and is more austere, but it is still very pleasurable and one of the more approachable vintages of this era. Tasted blind from double magnum at a 20-year retrospective at the château. [Neal Martin, 02/07/2024]

Anticipated maturity: 2022-2040

Robert Parker 93

Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. The Latour 2007 has a high-toned bouquet, the new oak more prominent than the others in this blind flight with scents of blackberry, black olive and just a hint of fresh dates lending it an atypical hint of opulence. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a touch of liquorice, segues into a juicy, generous finish that coats the mouth, but still primal and backward, perhaps yet to discover its personality? Give this 4-5 years at least. Tasted January 2011. [Neal Martin, 01/01/2011]

Anticipated maturity: 2015-0
