A huge, structured wine, the 2006 Barolo Rocche dei Brovia is deep, powerful and structured. This is a decidedly brooding, tannic Barolo that is many years away from peaking. Intense fruit and equally imposing tannins meld together in a powerful, structured Barolo that is going to need time. Interestingly, Alex Sanchez adds that the 2006 was very light in body and color for the first year of its life. You’d never guess that today. [Antonio Galloni, 01/01/2015]

The 2006 Barolo Rocche is an elegant, mid-weight offering laced with red fruits, flowers and the fine, silky tannins that define the Barolos of this important site. The inner perfume carries through to the finessed finish. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. The Brovia family has been on a tear of late. The wines I tasted during my recent visit ” including all of the Barolos from vintages 2006 through 2008 ” suggest quality remains at a very high level. The estate’s 2007s are developing spectacularly and the 2006s, while a touch more reticent, are just as fascinating. I will re-taste all of the 2006 Barolos once they are bottled this summer.
