2005 Alain Hudelot-Noellat, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Aux Murgers 1x750ml

Vinous 89+

Good full deep red. Musky dark raspberry and a whiff of smoked meat on the nose. Rich, dense and supple, with berry fruit complicated by leather and game. A fairly wild wine in this 2005 collection, with its fruit currently in the background. Finishes with substantial, broad tannins that call for five years of aging. Today I don’t find the perfume displayed a year ago by a barrel sample, but this wine may be going through an awkward stage. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/03/2008]
