Tasted at The Ledbury Burgundy lunch off-line. Very clear core. The nose is very appealing with red cherry, candied orange peel and an almost sorbet like freshness and vitality. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, although overall it is quite masculine and stoic, leading to a pointed, ferrous finish. Good potential and fortunately showing none of that green/mothball trait that afflicts many 2004s. Drink 2012-2020. Tasted December 2009.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020
Medium cherry-red color. A whiff of reduction quickly dissipated to show fruity aromas of strawberry, raspberry preserves and cherry, with some earth and minerals lurking. Juicy, dense and sappy; offers a creamy texture but with solid underlying spine. Not at all overly sweet. This rather backward example calls for at least five years of patience.
