Tasted at Louis Jadot’s 150th anniversary tasting. The Bonnes Mares has a deep ruby core with roof tile rim. It has a quintessential Bonnes Mares bouquet; rounded and voluptuous, plush raspberry, kirsch, ripe Satsuma and just a hint of alcohol indicative of the hot growing season. The palate is full-bodied with a spicy entry, firm and slightly coarse tannins with a high-toned, rather ostentatious core with an off-putting charred not poking out on the finish that is still showing some hardness. On this showing, I feel this is a Burgundy beaten by the growing season. Drink now-2013. Tasted November 2009.
Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013
