Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 91

Tasted at the Burgundy 2003 dinner (non-blind.) This has a lovely purity on the nose with earthy, red-berried fruit, hints of iodine, blueberry and raspberry coulis. The palate has wonderful balance and a sense of effortless. As always, this Clos-de-la-Roche is not as intellectual or as complex as say, Laurent Ponsot, but it does have an engaging sense of purity with wild strawberry and raspberry towards the weighty finish. Moderate length. Very fine. Drink now-2016. Tasted April 2009. [Neal Martin, 01/04/2009]

Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016

Vinous 89-92

Good full red. Complex aromas of black raspberry, espresso, mocha and underbrush. Dense, thick and concentrated; a step up in size from the foregoing wines. And yet this big boy shows a lovely restrained sweetness and comes across as round and not especially tannic. Long and lush on the aftertaste. [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/2005]
