Full medium ruby. Slightly herbaceous aromas of cherry and high-toned oak. Juicy but a bit green in the mouth; I don’t find a lot of ripeness or depth of flavor here. Finishes with some rather drying tannins and a repeating greenness. The ’98 was clearly better. [Stephen Tanzer, 07/01/2001]
