The 1996 R.D. from Bollinger is another superb wine from this vintage. An expressive bouquet of spices, acacia blossoms and perfumed fruit emerges from the wine’s silky-textured frame. This generous R.D. is drinking well today, but also has enough freshness to age well for years. It is a great version of one of Champagne’s legendary wines. [Antonio Galloni, 01/01/2009]

Tasted at the Bollinger RD vertical in Paris. The nose is more complex and less yeasty than the 1997 with limestone, a touch of yellow plum and a hint of vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and very powerful, much greater volume than the 1997 and in my opinion, greater tension and vibrancy. Laser-sharp citrus fruits, orange zest, freshly cut lime and just a faint honeyed note towards the finish. This is a fabulous Bollinger RD with superb persistency ” certainly a long lasting Bollinger. Tasted July 2011. [01/07/2011]
