1993 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Premier Cru Classe, Pauillac 1x750ml

A deep garnet core with some ageing on the rim. The nose is certainly in need of more fruit concentration (like many 1993’s), dominated by cedar, cigar box and burnt match. The palate is medium-bodied, lacking a little cohesion, almost rustic in style for Mouton. Good acidity, yet mid-palate is rather hollow, following by an attenuated, austere finish. My feeling is that this will dry out over the next decade. Drink now through 2012. Tasted April 2007. [Neal Martin, 01/04/2007]
