Winemaker for one of the most prestigious wineries in Burgundy was a second career of sorts for Guillaume d’Angerville. After the sudden and tragic loss of his father in 2003, Guillaume needed to move on from his career in investment banking with JP Morgan to helm the family’s storied history in Volnay. He swiftly made significant agricultural improvements, and over the last 20+ years, has transformed d’Angerville into one of the most important estates of Burgundy.

Despite having tremendous success in Burgundy, Guillaume felt his vision was incomplete, and he aspired to expand into the Jura. When the famed Jacques Puffeney retired, Guillaume struck a deal to take over some of the most prestigious vines in the region. He proceeded to acquire additional small parcels to create Domaine du Pelican. The results have been stellar to date-following the history of winemaking style in the Jura, while keeping the wines fresh and pure, much like his accomplishments at the Burgundy estate.
