Working 9 to Wine

Ian is on a well-deserved vacation, so the Friday list has been turned over to me this week, and it’s truly a helluva lineup. While no one can quite write an offer like he does, this one reflects the work our team has put securing some of the best wines from UOVO clients who have decided to sell a portion of their collections, whether to make room for new arrivals or simply take advantage of the market.

Wine collecting is constantly dynamic. Collectors are often buying and selling at the same time and we’re here to help with both. We spent much of the last few months working with clients who wanted to sell portions of their holdings, and the fruit of that work is clearly showing up in a big way.

Today’s Friday list brings it all together. Bordeaux is particularly deep, with 1998 Cheval Blanc in 3L (100 WA), 2015,2016 Haut-Brion and 2009 La Mission Haut-Brion (all 100 WA), 2009 Latour (100 WA), 2016 Margaux (99 WA/99 VM), and 2005 Montrose at $220.

Burgundy includes 2023 DRC Grands Échézeaux in magnum, 1999 Fourrier Clos Saint-Jacques in 3L, 2012 Grivot Échézeaux, and 2011 Groffier Bonnes Mares. And don’t overlook the mature Jacques Cacheux Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Plantes, with 2005, 2006 and 2010 on offer, the latter just $70. From Champagne, there’s 2002 Salon in magnum, 2006 Salon, 2010 Pierre Péters Les Chétillons in magnum, and one I wouldn’t miss: 2017 Pierre Péters Les Chétillons (95 VM) at $225.

Italy brings the insanely rare Roagna Pajé Crichet, Aldo Conterno Granbussia, multiple vintages of Cerretalto, Tignanello, Poggio di Sotto, and 2018 Flaccianello (100 VM) at just $135.

And from California, there’s 2016 Dominus (100 WA) at $325, Harlan, Scarecrow and Dana Estates, with a little Old Rip Van Winkle and Weller C.Y.P.B. tucked in at the end for good measure. It’s a broad list, but there’s a common thread throughout: excellent provenance, great pricing, and wines worth drinking and collecting – and if you would like to sell, we’re here to help.
