Blue Chips, Big Bottle Edition

We took a weekend off from our run of Blue Chips last Saturday, since I figured many of you were taking the weekend off as well. We’re back today with a stellar offer, this time focused exclusively on large formats. These wines are hard enough to find in 750ml bottles, but today we’re showcasing the even rarer and more difficult-to-find big bottles.

Italy leads the way with some truly exceptional wines, many of them at surprisingly wallet-friendly prices. Masseto and Tignanello from Tuscany bring the big scores, joined by a strong lineup from Gaja, Giacomo Conterno, and Giuseppe Mascarello in Barolo. California follows with Opus One and Schrader magnums, while Bordeaux reaches a high point with a legendary vintage of Château Palmer.

Burgundy is all about the whites, with a terrific lineup from Leflaive, PYCM, and Roulot. These wines are difficult enough to source in standard bottles, but magnums take them to another level. And for your next great party, how about a beautifully aged 3L of Krug? We have you covered there too.
