Champagne: Time to Stock Up!
Chartogne Taillet, Dhondt Grellet, Pierre Peters, Seleque and more!
Hello Collectors,
In this week’s producer profile, we are focusing on what we consider some of the best grower Champagnes on the market. With less than 6 weeks to go until we are in the thick of the holiday madness, now is the time to buy so you are prepared for all the celebrations! Because we love bubbly so much here at Cellar Trading, we are intentional when it comes to having a well-rounded inventory filled with bottles from a range of price points, from the big-name iconic houses to the most exquisite grower cuvées.
We truly believe you can never have too many bottles of bubbles and given the incredible variety we offer, you’ll find a range of bottles to explore the versatility of every style of Champagne. In addition to this enticing list of growers, we are including three of our favorite big houses as well: Bollinger, Cristal and Dom Perignon. All wines are in-stock and ready to ship or transfer to your storage, with the exception of the 2012 Cristal and the 2002 Dom Perignon, however, rest assured, there are no additional tariffs on anything in this offer.
Rooted in the northern Montagne de Reims, Chartogne-Taillet has become a benchmark for terroir-driven Champagne. Alexandre Chartogne farms his vineyards organically (still relying on the gentle, precise step of horses when plowing) and vinifies parcel by parcel, creating wines of striking transparency and energy. These are Champagnes that speak clearly of place, not formula, and where a tradition of minimal intervention stands the test of time.
Adrien Dhondt crafts luminous, mineral-driven Champagnes from old vines farmed biodynamically. Focused on Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, his wines are elegant yet electric, precise and aromatic, and the Domaine has swiftly become one of the region’s rising stars. We’ve opened a half-dozen of these over the last few months at various UOVO events and it’s impressive how much guests love Dhondt and ask for more! The freshness, elegance and bright acidity are spectacular alone, but a match with oysters, crudo or sashimi would be amazing.
One of Champagne’s great grower estates, Pierre Péters is synonymous with Grand Cru Chardonnay. Based in the heart of Le Mesnil, the Péters family has been bottling Champagne under its own name since 1919, producing wines revered for their laser-sharp definition, longevity, and finesse. Péters is a go-to for us; the tremendous value of the Cuvée de Réserve embodies the precision and terroir that’s hard to find in a non-vintage, especially one at this price.
Frédéric Savart is celebrated for his Burgundian approach to Champagne, working with small plots in Écueil and Villiers-aux-Noeuds to create expressive, textural wines. Precision, minimal intervention, and a deep respect for the vineyard result in Champagnes that are both vibrant and seductive. The gorgeous Bullé de Rosé is one of our favorite NV Rosés to always have on hand and the Blanc de Noirs L’Ouverture is a stunning value to boot!
Jean-Marc Sélèque blends traditional savoir-faire with a modern touch, farming organically and fermenting with native yeasts. His wines balance brightness and generosity, emphasizing the character of the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay. Jean-Marc has elevated the reputation of Pierry with his bottlings and successfully showcases the versatility of Meunier. The wines are both approachable and complex, a perfect snapshot of contemporary grower Champagne.
