My Favorite Wines, Part 2

We’ve added a tremendous array of incredible wines to our inventory over the last few weeks. This bounty inspired me to write a much belated follow up to my favorite wines offer from a few months ago. First, I have been so impressed by the 2022 Bordeaux in bottle. Between the UGC tasting and other opportunities to taste 2022, I wholeheartedly love this vintage – immediately delicious but with so much promise. I’ve also had the chance to taste a range of PYCM this year and to me it continues to be the most exciting white Burgundy right now – our range of Grand Crus, especially at these competitive prices, are not to be missed.  Vatan’s show-stopping Sancerre Clos la Néore was another favorite white of the last few months. Having tasted a couple of younger vintages last fall, I am coveting these perfectly cellared older bottles.

Next, for all the graduations, milestone birthdays and anniversaries, (somehow, they are all stacked between May and September), I am stocking up by the case. First, always, Champagne – Pierre Paillard’s sumptuous Rosé (on sale!) and culty Dhondt-Grellet’s Terres Fines. Second, more Burgundy: I can’t wait to open Hubert Lamy’s Clos Meix Blanc (a favorite producer from La Paulée’s verticals tasting) and Vocoret’s highly rated Chablis (which drinks like a Premier Cru per VM) will claim space in my cellar.

From a couple of our longest-term storage customers alights a flock of rare birds: Engel, Grivot, Raveneau, Bollinger’s Vieilles Vignes Françaises, Salon, a mag of Vogüé Musigny, and to pivot from France, I’ve got my eyes on the mag of 99-point Carter Cellars GTO! The depth of Burgundy in stock right now is remarkable with Dujac’s Grand Crus, aforementioned PYCM and d’Angerville’s Clos du Ducs representing the vast variety of styles and prices we currently have.  I love the juxtaposition of aged Rayas along with young SQN to lay down. Lastly, the vertical of classic Shafer Hillside, so perfectly aged in magnum, gives the perfect excuse to plan an epic dinner party under the stars!
