The 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru was reduced to five or six barrels this year. This is a little edgier and more angular on the nose, more sous-bois coming through. It just needs time to cohere in barrel and then in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit tinged with brown spices towards the nicely structured finish. It does not quite have the crystalline purity of the Pruliers but it should drink well for 12 to 15 years. [Neal Martin, 01/01/2026]
