The 2024 Volnay Clos des Ducs 1er Cru, which was apparently more resilient but still affected by the season, has an exquisite bouquet with vivacious redcurrant, cranberry and wild strawberry scents displaying admirable vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins. A bit more substance than the Champans, focused and fresh with ample sapidity on the finish. Frankly, this is only a small step behind other vintages despite the growing season and has lost little of its trademark breeding. [Neal Martin, 01/01/2026]
