“The Borgo del Tiglio 2024 Collio Ronco della Chiesa (made with 100% Friulano from old vines) is just coming to market and was tasted with proprietor Nicola Manferrari and his son Mattia, who shared the devastating impact of a November 2025 mudslide that destroyed the winery and left these historic vineyards in a restricted “red zone,” still inaccessible today. The family is working to salvage what they can from the 2025 vintage, which may ultimately be the last from this site. In contrast to that uncertainty, the 2024 shows generosity and poise, with stone fruit, delicate floral tones and refined mineral notes reminiscent of crushed shells, offering a beautifully contoured and elegant expression of this storied vineyard. Deep vine roots helped the plants resist this warm vintage. This was indeed an emotional tasting of what has long been one of my favorite Italian white wines.” [Monica Larner, 04/02/2026]
