The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet En Cailleret 1er Cru has a very capable bouquet: mineral-laden, almost steely yellow fruit, sea spray and oyster shell manifesting with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with much more density and grip than Thierry Pillot’s La Grande Ruchotte. Fine acidity, quite sapid and almost Puligny-like towards the finish. This is a well-crafted and complex Chassagne that should repay bottle ageing. Bottled under Diam 30. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2045
