The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux 1er Cru is matured entirely in new oak as usual. It has a very controlled bouquet, less flamboyant than Emmanuel Rouget’s, that I tasted a week earlier (I believe he picked a little later). Black cherries, iodine and crushed strawberry on the nose, dried violets emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins. This is refined with impressive mineralité, and very focused with an almost understated finish considering the Premier Cru in question. Very sustained, though. Excellent, but very nuanced and a long-term proposition.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2050
