The 2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from a 0.33-hectare parcel next to Méo-Camuzet, matured in 75% new oak (the first vines that Georges Mugneret bought…when he was a medical student!) The beautiful bouquet shades the Ruchottes-Chambertin with life-affirming mineralité and tension, laser-like focus and palpable energy. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red berry fruit, tension from start to finish, finishing with real substance. Very long on the aftertaste – this is the Domaine’s best 2022 and one of the best Clos Vougeot this vintage. [Neal Martin, 01/11/2024]
