The 2022 Volnay Clos des Chênes 1er Cru is fully de-stemmed and comprises 6 barrels. It has an intense nose with black cherry and blueberry fruit, becoming quite floral in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There s plenty of black fruit laced with licorice from the warm growing season. A bit of heat on the back palate? I’ll be prudent for now.
