The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, matured in around 50% new oak, has a dense blackberry and briar nose with undergrowth and iris flower touches. The palate has a firm backbone, quite tight at the moment (maybe because, as Bachelet points out, it’s a leaf day), and a gentle grip with a tightly wound yet fresh, saline finish. I would afford this two or three years in bottle.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2045
