A more complex and more floral-suffused nose offers up notes of rosemary oil, petrol and citrus zest. There is again excellent punch to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate density while displaying excellent length on the youthfully austere finale. This could use better depth but the underlying material appears up to the task and overall, this is potentially excellent for its level.
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc delivers aromas of white flowers, pear, orange zest and nutmeg, followed by a medium to full-bodied, racy and perfumed palate framed by chalky structure and concluding with an impressively long, saline finish. If Moreau can deliver quality like this, with sites like this, in a vintage like this, the future clearly holds great things for him.
