The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a very attractive nose of brambly red fruit, wild strawberry, sous-bois, wilted rose petal and orange zest. Just a suggestion of Brettanomyces emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with very pliant tannins, fine acidity, a little more savory edge than its peers and a tangy, saline finish. Nascent in style, this clearly deserves three or four years in bottle, but there is much promise. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2048
Another of the portfolio’s highlights is the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, a deep and complete cuvee evocative of cherries, raspberries, rose petals, exotic spices and incense. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered, its chassis of ripe, powdery tannins is entirely concealed by the wine’s concentrated core of vibrant fruit.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2057
