Tasting Notes

Robert Parker 96

A barrel sample, the 2017 Pinot Noir le Caprice is pale to medium ruby-purple and has an incredibly perfumed nose offering up an array of baking spices and incense over a core of black raspberries, kirsch and redcurrants with wafts of roses, pomegranate and dried Provence herbs. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with wonderfully ripe, silt-like tannins and great freshness supporting the intensely perfumed fruit, finishing long. 1,445 cases are expected to be produced, to be released in February 2019. [Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 09/19/2018]

Vinous 95

The 2017 Pinot Noir Le Caprice is ample, rich and super-expressive, with bright floral and saline notes that lend energy to a core of sweet red cherry fruit. Hints of cinnamon and mint develop later, adding nuance. Intensely saline and pulsating with energy, Le Caprice shows why the wines of the Sonoma Coast are so enticing. This is very nicely done. [Antonio Galloni, 05/20/2019]

Anticipated maturity: 2022-2032
