2017 Macdonald, Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville 1×1.5L

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is sumptuous and racy on the palate, with a good deal of immediacy. Red cherry, plum, rose petal and sweet spice are all pushed forward. Today, the 2017 comes across as a bit light in both structure and overall depth, almost as if the fruit was stunted by the Labor Day heat. It will be interesting to see how the wine develops in barrel and, specifically, if it puts on a bit more weight. [Antonio Galloni, 14/12/2018]
