The 2017 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has an elegant, correct, almost conservative bouquet, a bit like a Swiss watch in terms of its precision. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine silky tannin, perfect acidity, very pure with moderate substance, hints of orange zest and marmalade towards the vivacious finish. The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets is one of the more ethereal wines in the cellar, exhibiting classy aromas of red cherries, spices, rose petal and rock salt. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fine-boned and satiny, with delicate but chalky structuring tannins, bright acids and lovely purity of fruit.
