The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru has a very intense bouquet of black cherries, briar, crushed stone and a touch of potpourri and wild heather – very complex and compelling. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, and quite effervescent, like the Les Petit Monts. The energetic, lightly spiced and persistent finish is typical of this revered vineyard. The 2017 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Aux Reignots is second only to La Romanee in the Liger-Belair cellar this year, wafting from the glass with a striking bouquet of wild rose, spices, French roast, dark chocolate, smoked duck and ineffable savory nuances that has already integrated its new wood to a much greater degree than any of the wines that preceded it. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with a satiny-textured attack, a juicy and gourmand core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, fragrant and beautifully delineated finish.
