"The 2016 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses has a well-defined bouquet with scents of blackberry, hints of blueberry and crushed rose petals, a distant scent of cold stone emerging with time. I would have just liked a little more precision perhaps, but the aromatics certainly have charm. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, more structured and austere than the Fournaux with a strong, brine-tinged finish. This will require three or four years in barrel to smooth the edges, but again, this has good potential." [Neal Martin, 29/12/2017]
