The 2016 Leoville Barton has an outgoing nose with an unexpected touch of eucalyptus that tinctures the lively black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. Nice backbone here, fresh and sapid, with a harmonious, almost briny finish that lends it so much personality. Excellent. Tasted at the 10-Year-On tasting at Bordeaux Index. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Leoville Barton delivers a superstar nose of creme de cassis, plum preserves and blueberry compote with suggestions of fragrant earth, unsmoked cigars, licorice and cedar chest.
