Tasting Notes

Vinous 93

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet that displays a subtle marine, oyster shell tincture. It is more backward than Ghislaine-Barthod’s own Fuees, but focused and clearly delineated. The palate is well-defined and grippy, displaying a fine bead of acidity and more tannic backbone than its peers. Perhaps there was a slightly longer extraction here, leading to a more muscular finish, yet the wine is still endowed with finesse and sophistication. You re just going to have to wait longer for it. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. [Neal Martin, 13/11/2018]

Anticipated maturity: 2022-2045

Robert Parker 94

"Readers who are unable to get hold of Mugnier’s stunning Musigny or Amoureuses should emphatically not disdain the utterly brilliant 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuees. Tasted blind, the wine displays a deep bouquet of cherries, cassis, wild plums and dark chocolate, complemented by some sweet spices. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with excellent concentration and succulent acids, concluding with a sapid finish. Some fine but youthfully firm tannin on the finish argues for waiting at least five or six years before pulling corks, though this Fuees will need longer to reach its true apogee." [William Kelley, 31/10/2018]

Anticipated maturity: 2025-2050
