The 2015 Meursault Les Perrieres 1er Cru is the one wine in this peer-group flight that feels excessively reduced on the nose and neutralizes any terroir expression. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and focused, and the finish is fresh and lively. It just seems compromised by the level of reduction on the nose; otherwise, this might have been a very fine wine. Like the Clos des Boucheres, I feel this has closed down, hence the score. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2035
"The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres is firmly shut down, offering up only a reticent bouquet of iodine, toasted nuts and citrus oil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tangy and bright but decidedly taut, playing its cards very close to its vest. From barrel, this was the most intense and concentrated wine in Roulot’s cellar, with immense potential, but given how closed the wine is today, there is really no point pulling corks for a good five years."
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2040
