2015 Domaine Gerard Mugneret, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, Les Charmes 1x750ml

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes includes 50% whole cluster and 40% new oak. The stem addition makes a little difference here, with more damp undergrowth, moss-like scents filtering through the dark cherry and wild strawberry fruit. This is a little more introspective than the two premier cru Vosne-Romanees. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. I appreciate the energy and tension here, the veins of blood orange and fresh apricot lending charm and a sense of femininity on the finish. [Neal Martin, 28/09/2017]
