2015 Domaine Cecile Tremblay, Morey-Saint-Denis, Tres Girard 1x750ml

The 2015 Morey Saint Denis les Tres Girard suffered some grillure on the "younger vines" (45 years old), although Cecile did not know why particularly in this location. It contains around 30% whole bunch fruit and offers a well-defined blueberry and raspberry-scented bouquet, a touch of incense developing with aeration. The palate has good backbone and comes across as quite structured for a village cru, though that is what you expect from any self-respecting Morey-Saint-Denis. I appreciate the confit-tinged finish that just needs to develop a little more persistence on the aftertaste to match the excellent 2014 from last year. [Neal Martin, 28/09/2017]

Vinous 88-90

Healthy dark red. Musky, slightly reduced aromas of red berries, spices and game. In a rather soft, sweet, rich style, with red fruit flavors complemented by mocha, milk chocolate and spices. This nicely broad village wine finishes with slightly dusty tannins and very good length, with just enough limestone lift. Should give early pleasure. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/01/2017]
