The 2014 Saffredi is on the market now, but could use more time to age and develop. The bouquet is slow to open and once it does, it shows dark fruit intensity with blackberry and dried cherry at the front. The are tight aromas of spice, cured leather and dark chocolate as well. This edition of Saffredi shows good textural richness in the mouth, but the overall effect is leaner and more compact compared to the excellent vintage that precedes it. Because that tannic firmness still needs time to relax, this bottle is definitely premature to drink now. [Monica Larner, 28/09/2017]
